Cheerleaders Attend Summer Team Camp in Austin

At the end of June, HHS Varsity and JV Cheerleaders and Holden the Hondo Owl attended UCA Cheer Camp at the University of Texas in Austin.  The two teams and school mascot received several awards throughout the duration of camp including:

Varsity

  • Superior Awards in Cheer and XTreme Routine Daily Evaluations
  • On the final day competitions, Varsity received 2nd in the XTreme Routine Championships.
  • They competed against other Varsity Squads, 14 members and below.

JV

  • Superior Awards in Cheer and XTreme Routine Daily Evaluations
  • On the final day competitions, JV received 1st Place Overall Game Day, 1st Place Timeout Cheer, 2nd Place XTreme Routine, 2nd Place Sideline Cheer.
  • They completed against other Freshmen and JV squads, 14 members and below.

Mascot

  • Holden  received Superior awards in daily evaluations.
  • On the final day competitions, Holden received 1st Place Overall Game Day Performance.
  • Holden competed against 11 school mascots from various size schools.

Qualifying for All-American Cheerleader/Mascot included:

Junior, Megan Gruber, Varsity Division

Junior, Hannah Martinez, Varsity Mascot Division

Sophomore, Julyssa Ramirez, JV Division

Freshman, Halie Alfaro, JV Division

Freshman, Allyson Davis, JV Division

After performing at DKR Memorial Stadium, Holden and HHS Cheerleaders took a few minutes to read The Hondo Anvil Herald, mid-field.
